Small HCC + follow-up after microwave ablation
Epicrisis: 57-year-old patient with a history of HCV infection and HCC with segment V resection (2022). 04/2024 ultrasound reveals a hypoechoic lesion in segment VII (12 x 10 mm). The lesion shows arterial hyperenhancement with a late contrast washout, which is characteristic of a small HCC (CEUS-LIRADS 5). In 05/2024, the patient underwent microwave ablation. 2 days after ablation, an ablation defect of approx. 3.5 cm was found without contrast enhancement, indicating successful microwave ablation. CEUS showed a transient hyperemic rim in the arterial phase (postinterventional reaction).
