Case report: A 60-year-old female patient who experienced an episode of pain approximately one week ago. Since then, she has had a distinct, painful bulge in the upper abdomen. Ultrasound reveals an approximately 9 cm cyst in the left lobe of the liver. Based on the medical history, a hemorrhagic liver cyst is suspected. Ultrasound-guided puncture is performed with aspiration of brownish fluid (consistent with the suspicion of a hemorrhagic liver cyst). An 8 Fr pigtail catheter is inserted. After aspiration of approximately 500 ml, the patient reports relief from symptoms. After another day, the cyst appears completely drained.
